Nompumelelo Mayiyane is a South African, Naledi-nominated actor, writer, director, and singer.
Mayiyane holds a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Motion Picture Medium from The South African School of Film, Motion Picture, and Performance (AFDA), complemented by certificates from institutions including the New York Film Academy and Duke University.
A truly international artist, Mayiyane’s theatre career has taken her to stages around the world, from London’s West End to Off-Broadway productions in New York. Her stage credits include Rock of Ages, Home Affairs, Africa Umoja, Beautiful Creatures, Too Much Punch for Judy, Songs of Jazz Town, and Disney’s The Jungle Book.
On screen, she has appeared in a wide range of acclaimed South African television series, among them Inmba (nominated for a national award in 2025), Justice Served (Netflix), Reyka (Season 2), High Rollers (Season 3), Rour Jou Voete, Erfsonders, Muvhango, Intersexions, My Perfect Family, and Zone 14.
Her film work includes roles in Mad Buddies, Little One, Skyf, Rands and Family, Guns and Petals, and Melody.
Mayiyane’s writing and directing can be seen in Talk to Me, staged at The Market Theatre, as well as Mina Nawe.
